Afterglow Gamepad For Xbox 360 Driver
I have an Afterglow Xbox 360 controller that I use on my pc. I bought it and when I plugged it in my Windows 8.1 pc recognized it and installed the drivers. It worked perfectly. Now fast forward five months and when I plugged it into my laptop it wasn't recognized.

Now when I plug it into any pc it's not recognized. I've tried downloading the 360 drivers from microsoft and that didn't work. When I plug it in the lights come on for a second and then they all go out. When it was working and I plugged it in the lights would flash but the green light for player 1 around the home button would stay on, it doesn't any more. Any help would be very much appreciated. Can I fix this or do I need to just buy a new one? Ok, so after reading this post I was a little unhappy as I have one of these controllers and I have Windows 8.1.
However, low and behold I managed to get it working. Here's what I did.
I downloaded the XBox 360 driver pack for Windows 7 (Yes, I am quite aware I have Windows 8.1): I installed the driver pack and connected the controller. Device manager advised that there was NO driver for the After Glow Controller. Trying to go through the Manual Driver update is fruitless and just hangs device manager. Here's what I did next.
Leaving the controller connected to the USB port, I rebooted the machine. As the machine booted up, the driver was installed and all was good. If you go to Devices and Printers, the controller shows up as an AfterGlow Gamepad for XBox 360. To test, I removed the controller and re inserted it, still good.
I unplugged the controller and shut the machine down. Started it back up and logged in, then plugged the controller in, and it's still working.
