I just purchased a 9500 GT with 1GB DDR2, installed latest drivers from the EVGA website on a Windows 7 32-bit system, also installed Precision 1.8.1. I noticed that if I set the fan to 'auto' with Precision, it stays at 100% even at idle GPU temp; however, if I take it off auto, I can manually set the fan speed. Does this mean that while this card's fan cannot be auto-controlled, manual control does work? This is what Precision is showing me, just want to be sure!! Dumb question maybe but this is my first experience with non-motherboard integrated video (why did I wait so long?!). Thanks for your reply. I installed the nvidia system tools and found that when using those instead of Precision, setting fan to Auto also resulted in a display of 100% of fan speed in the monitor.

While setting to 'manual' would hold at chosen percentages, I was unhappy to find out that nothing was actually happening there either-setting the speed manually to '0' would appear to work, yet the fan was still spinning away. Going from other speeds like 90% to 20% made no noticeable difference in the eye-ball-observed fan speed. So I'm forced to conclude that this card's fan is just fixed at 100% and non-adjustable-by either automatic or manual settings. I don't think the card itself is bad because my work system has the exact same setup and the results are the same. It's not LOUD, but it would have been nice to be able to adjust it to non-audible when not playing games. Hmm, can anyone recommend another basic EVGA 2.0 16X card that DOES have an adustable fan??
