Can Microsoft please comment on why IrDA support was removed from Windows 10? And if it's coming back and if so, when? Many devices rely on IrDA such as sports watches, heart rate monitors and scuba dive computers. After upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, my ScubaPro Galileo Luna dive computer can no longer connect to my computer as the driver is not working correctly in Windows 10.

The current mitigations that I could find are: 1. Revert back to Windows 8.1 (or earlier). Use a Virtual computer that is using an earlier version of Windows, via VMWare or Hyper-V or similar. Use a different computer that has an earlier version of Windows or Mac OSX. These are all horrible solutions.

Looking at different discussion sites, it appears that the IrDA stack was removed from Windows 10 with no explanation. This is affecting a lot of customers. And apparently it is now up to the hardware manufacturers who depend on IrDA to come up with a driver with the full IrDA stack when before they didn't need to do that. So perhaps some will come out with drivers that will work with Windows 10. But this still doesn't explain why Microsoft pulled support which caused a horrible customer experience for many many customers. Please speak up about this.

There have been many posts to the Windows 10 Feeback app since the launch of Windows 10 when the IrDA stack was removed. No one has come back with any update as to when this will be fixed leaving customers frustrated as they are unable to use devices that require IrDA. These are people who need to download essential data from heart monitors, dive computers etc. Simply repeating the request to add feedback to a link that is clearly ignored doesn't help anyone!

Perhaps you could raise this at a senior level within Microsoft and ensure that your customers get their operating system working again quickly before this inability actually causes a death. It is pathetic that Microsoft is using customers to beta test a driver when they should have had enough brains to realize it was being used by lots of applications by other enterprises. In my case, the missing feature caused me to lose a significant amount of data in a recent trip when I could not offload the data from my dive computer, and the oldest dives rolled off before I had a chance to off load them using my Windows 7 machine which I had the foresight to not 'upgrade'.

And to think that at the end of the Windows 10 install you get the message 'All your stuff is still there'.Ha!
